Mychelle Lee- Spaceship
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 2010 and for the last 4 years I’ve had to take a break from music in order to get better. At one point I spent time in a nursing home it got so bad.
The song Spaceship came about during that time in the nursing home and just wanting to get away from everything. It’s a recollection of that time period and my hoping to get better so that I can go
after my dreams of music. Spaceship is the first single from my upcoming EP The Inertia Project that chronicles this crazy time in my life and overcoming it. The purpose of this project is to raise awareness
for the disease and hopefully to garner enough funds to raise money for Crohn’s research and related initiatives.
Crohn’s Disease is an inflammatory bowel disease where the immune system attacks a persons intestines as if they were foreign invaders in the body. Crohn’s can affect the whole GI tract and causes symptoms due to
inflammation in the GI tract (colon, small intestine, etc) and a plethora of symptoms from joint pain and fatigue to constant bathroom visits and weight loss to name a few. Thankfully, due to modern medicine, there are
treatments for the disease but it is incurable and can be fatal due to the complications of the disease. For more information, visit the ccfa.org
